First off, I want to talk about changing the name of my WIP. So, this book has taken a decade to write fully. It has been a long road and something I have worked so hard to accomplish. I finished the first draft of my WIP November 30, 2017. While working on it, I have called it Mystics--which is the name of the magical people in my world. However, upon looking on Amazon for Mystics book, I discovered that there is already a series with that name! This lead to a lot of soul searching.
What was the name of my novel going to be? How could I change something that's been the same for ten years? Naming my novel is akin to naming my child. I thought, and I thought, but nothing was standing out to me.
Then, while trying to take a nap today, inspiration struck! In my world, The Delles, Mystics are able to store power into dragon scales, allowing them to use their powers without draining all of their energy at once. This lead me to think of a very different title, and one that has made me, already, consider some fairly large changes to the second draft. That being said, I really think that it is something that needed to happen to make my novel an even more amazing version of itself.
That being said, I'd like to formally announce the name of my book series.
*clears throat for dramatic effect*
Dragon Scale Prophecies
Book 1: Truth
Book 2: Courage
Book 3: Hope
As you can see, my plan for this book is to make it into a series. Not for the sake of earning bucket loads of money, but for the sake of my story. Dragon Scale Prophecies needs to be a series. It won't work in any other way.
